At Graphic Designers Africa, we’ve identified a gap in the learning experience and career development for our modern day young Creatives in Africa and in other to groom our members to bridge this gap, we launched our Graphic Designers Internship Program (GDAIP).

About GDAIP

GDAIP is a 6 months remote working experience that gives members of our community a chance to develop their skills holistically. This includes design skills, remote working discipline, corporate culture adaptation, self supervision and development, resource management, etc. This opportunity is open to graduates of our 3 months intensive induction training who have shown competence in the basic understanding of Graphic Design.

The GDAIP Vision & Mission

Through this program we hope to position our members to secure long-term and lucrative job opportunities within the global value chain. And we are looking to establish partnerships with reputable organizations that have an online presence and require entry level designers to handle their most basic daily design needs.

Partnership Benefits

Being an internship partner means you’ll get access to the following amazing benefits:

  1. Quality designs from trained graphic designers working remotely who will be at your organization’s disposal while you focus on other important aspects of your daily operations,
  2. Cheaper labour when compared to the minimum wage for graphic designers in Nigeria which could be around N75,000 ($110) per month or N3,500 ($5) per piece of social media design.
  3. Access to professional tips and guidelines for managing and maximizing your team of graphic designers via our invite-only private group for our internship partners.

The Scope of the Program

As a prospective partner, here’s what to expect from our partnership with your organization:

  1. Once you apply to become an internship partner and your application is approved, you get at least one intern assigned to your community every 3 months. These interns will serve for 6 months so after the first 3 months, you’ll always have at least 2 interns working in your organization at every point in time while the partnership remains. The old intern could assist you with onboarding the new one.
  2. Our interns will be working mostly with the easy-to-use Canva application. Canva is a mobile app and web-based versatile design platform with amazing features. All designs created for your organization are stored on the cloud and you will have access to copies at any time from any of your devices, even after your partnership expires. Canva also makes it easy for interns to collaborate on projects and transfer projects to new interns before their internship expires.
  3. Only designs related to the organization fall in the scope of work for the interns. All personal design requests could attract extra charges by the interns. We want to ensure our interns aren’t overwhelmed beyond the focus of the program, and that they are fairly compensated for additional responsibilities outside their regular scope of work.
  4. You can always request for additional interns or request for a replacement where necessary. For larger organizations with more design needs, we advice you use the same application form to request for additional interns, otherwise send an email to request for a replacement stating your reasons so we can work through it with you and get another intern to you.
  5. This program is strictly for remote work so there’ll be no place for requesting the physical presence of the interns to resume work at any designated location. If you however wish to retain the intern(s) as full staff after the program and wish to change the terms of work on a personal arrangement with them, that’s fine.
  6. During the internship program, you will provide the interns (2 persons) with stipends to cover internet data monthly. This is estimated at N120,000 ($180) per annum. If you request a higher number of interns per time, that’ll attract extra expenses per intern. You can buy this data bundle directly (if you stay in same country with your interns) or you can pay to GDA to sort the foreign interns on your behalf.
  7. Our charges for providing this service to you is a non-refundable N36,000 ($60) per annum. You will be required to pay this as soon as your application for interns have been approved and then we’ll be obligated to post an intern every 3 months to your organization or replace an underperforming or inactive intern.
  8. Once their 6 months internship period is over, the interns will be issued a certificate of completion in collaboration with your organization. The end of the program for an intern defines the end of your responsibility and our responsibility towards them. You are advised to proceed communications with the new intern(s) who are still within the program.
  9. Our interns are attached to our supervisors who will be checking in on them to assess their performance through out the tenor of the program. You’ll be able to interact with this supervisor for guidance and for any complaints where applicable. The supervisor will not be responsible for the management of the interns on your behalf so you should designated someone within your team to manage and assign tasks to them.
  10. You will be required to sign and return a simple agreement form confirming that you accept the terms and conditions stated here and in the document at the point of registering to be a partner. Please download the terms and conditions here.
